Domestic violence is not a private matter but a social problem. It constitutes not only physical but also emotional, sexual, financial and psychological abuse. Many women suffer in silence, but the definition of domestic abuse has been extended in the UK to include psychological, sexual, financial and emotional abuses. Domestic abuse still remains a taboo across many cultures. This project brings the voices of women who have taken a stand and broken the silence about their personal experiences of domestic abuse and its devastating effects - and the journey to move forward, not as victims but survivors.
